Is Incognito Mode(Private Browsing) really PRIVATE

Chrome offers “Incognito Mode” while Firefox offers “Private Window” for secret browsing

But the question is your Private Browsing actually confidential.

The answer is a BIG NO.

Why Incognito Mode is not Private

When you switch to the incognito tab, Chrome itself tells you, “Going

Incognito doesn’t hide your browsing from your employer, your Internet

Service Provider, or the websites you visit.”

According to the disclaimer :

  • Your ISP still has a list of websites you visited keeping the record of your stay and your clicks to certain links.
  • Moreover the websites you visited possesses all your secret information even if you did secretive browsing
  • Every request sent over the Internet is tied to an IP addressanyone with the capacity to monitor which IP address sends requests to a server can figure out where you’ve been going online and to whom you’ve been sending messages.

How Incognito Works

When you enable private browsing modes, you are telling your browser not to record which websites you’re visiting, and telling it not to use or download any cookies.

So, if you set up an account with an online jewelry store to find an engagement ring for your girlfriend, and she uses the same computer as you, she won’t be able to see any of that if you only do it in a private browsing mode.

When you use Incognito mode, Chrome doesn’t record any history or cookies. i.e no private information will be stored on your personal computer

Moreover it also disables the browser extensions.

For instance Facebook, Twitter uses cookies in your PC to serve you with the required advertisements, it won’t be able to follow this on “Secret Browsing”.

Here are certain ways to be fully Private on Internet

How To be Truly Private on Internet

USE VPN (VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK)

Using VPN masks or hides your IP address and physical localtion, i.e your true identity on the internet is completely hidden.

So neither website nor ISP can track your system’s identity.

To use it, download any VPN software (e.g NordVPN,Anyconnect) and choose a server from where you request the data.

Chrome also provides its VPN extensions like ZENMATE and Hola.

You can use VPN in mobiles and other devices as well.

Start Using TOR instead of Google Chrome

Tor is a VPN browser which doesn’t reveal your identity. Yes, It can not be

compared to Chrome in terms of user convenience and speed , yet it keeps

your browsing safe masking your internet identity.
