Kodinhi twin town of India

Kodinhi : The Twin Town of India – Only Twins are born here

Kodinhi , a small town in Kerala has baffled everyone with its highest number of Twins. The village of Kodinhi is located about 15 miles from the city of Malappuram.

No matter which paths you cross in the village you will be able to find identical twins , making it the Twin Town of India.twin2.jpg

Mysteriously it has the highest birth rates of twins in the world

With 2000 people in the village , there are 204 pairs of Twins (Isn’t that strange!!)

The Twin Birth rate is 6 times larger here than the average rate found in the world.

It can be perceived as a Happy village with Twins of all ages.

Even men who marries women outside village or women who marries men from different villages , still report high rate of twins birth.

Moreover the twin birth rate is found incrementing at a large scale year by year.

Many researchers are still researching on the possible causes with no result .

Local doctor Krishnan Sribiju has spent a great deal of time studying the twins of Kodinhi and he believes that the rate of twin births is even higher than official records suggest.

He is trying to analyze the diet pattern , the heredity of villagers , climatic conditions but still haven’t reached any profound solution , and the mystery continues.

Twin rate is 45 per 1000 births , while the average twin rate found in India is 4 per 1000 i.e around 10 times larger than the Indian average.

Moreover Twins are identical (not fraternal) and healthy J which itself seems strange.

As twins can cause financial burden to the family, the village has initiated an organization for financial support to raise their children.

This bizarre village also managed to broke the stereotypes which believed twin births are possible with woman’s height above 5’3” , as village comprises of women with average height as 5 inches.

We are hoping that soon the cause will be ascertained and bottled for infertility issues.
